History of our Name
Captain Calico Jack Rackham was a infamous pirate who ruled the seas during the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 18th century. Born in England, Rackham soon found himself drawn to the life of adventure and piracy. Sailing the Caribbean, he became notorious for his fearless nature and distinctive dress, often seen wearing colorful calico clothing. One of his favorite hiding spots was on the serene shores of the Cayman Islands. Our enchanting islands, with their crystal-clear waters and untouched beauty, provided the perfect sanctuary for Rackham and his crew to rest, replenish supplies, and plan their next daring exploits.
